Cold Laser Therapy

Cold laser is a form of photobiomodulation in which a low-level laser (LLT) transmits light in the infrared spectrum to provide improved energy metabolism, circulation, pain relief and anti-inflammatory effects to the targeted tissues. Laser therapy enhances the body’s own mechanisms for healing while offering an opportunity to improve quality of life without risk for negative side effects.

Dr. Kelly uses a class IV laser approved for use in small animal veterinary practice. During the initial visit, an assessment is performed and a tailor-made protocol is created to address your pet’s needs. Laser therapy can be combined with acupuncture during the same appointment. Protective eyewear will be provided by Dr. Kelly and must be worn by all family members present for the session. The treatment is performed by passing a hand-piece over the body which creates a warming sensation at the skin’s surface. Pets generally tolerate cold laser therapy well and it can be integrated into a multi-modal treatment for dogs and cats.
